The Opportunity A Scientist II position is available at one of the world’s best fragrance and flavor companies. Job Summary:

- Plan and execute technical work for Go to market (G2M) including proactive projects under the direction of technical leaders in the field of Fine Fragrance and Personal Care.
- Contribute positively by making suggestions for improvements in methods or techniques that result in benefits to the technical department
- Maintain up to date laboratory reports consistent with established protocols
- Follow safe laboratory practices and keep areas clean
- Generate technical information and suggestions that are used to make decisions and can be used in customer presentations to highlight IFF product advantages
Responsibilities:
- 20-25% Perform olfactive and stability studies or any other testing required as outlined in customer handbook; ability to plan and execute basic trouble-shooting steps where needed.
- 30-40% Help Perfumers develop/screen fragrances appropriate for color and odor stability in alcoholic solutions and line extensions.
- 15-20% Coordinate and attend weekly meetings with internal and external customers to review projects status, including team evaluation and sensory testing of new ingredients and customer follow ups in timely manner
- 5-10% Lab organization, maintenance and clean up.
- 5-10% Participate actively in new concept generation with senior technical staff.
- 5-10% Independently manage priorities and keep organized notebook and reports.
Required Skills
Essential:
- M.S. in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum 6-12 years of experience in the fragrance industry, Cosmetics or Consumer goods.
- Can work independently on projects without direct manager supervision
- Excellent Project Management and Time Management abilities.
- Results oriented, with strong listening and effective oral and written communications skills; excellent attention to detail
- Product or technology development experience in the consumer-packaged goods or fragrance industry
- Ability to color match and capability to perform olfactory evaluation as needed
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced highly matrixed environment
- Self-motivated and team player; must work well multi-tasking in dynamic environment
- MS Office Skills
Preferred:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related discipline
- Essential Requirements as well as the following.
- Knowledge of fragrance materials and olfactive descriptors
- Experience in fragranced product formulation
- Proven track record of success managing multiple projects on and solving complex technical problems
- Excellent communication skills
- Prior experience with a major cosmetic company, consumer packaged goods manufacture or flavor/fragrance house.
