Line Manager: Technology Director
Reporting to the Technology Director, the successful candidate will have a strong fermentation and downstream processing background with an interest and appetite in technical operation and development activities built on industrial experience across research, process development, and manufacturing. Technical expertise and a deep understanding of fermentation operations at numerous scales are critical to this role.
This is a key management role to technically support a new €45m facility in Zeeland and establish a sustainable technical centre of excellence.

The role:
TECHNICAL
Provide Technical support for production trials and delivery of innovation projects.
o Develop and deliver the Development Plan across short-, medium- and longer-term projects
o Manage laboratory teams
o Work closely with Production/ QA/QC / Supply Chain etc with the introduction of new raw materials, packaging materials, and products.
o Manage technical corporate memory
Monitor departmental KPIs and develop a technical quality culture to ensure targets are achieved and standards are continuously improved.
Technical transfer to Contract Manufacturing Organisations (as required)
Lead and manage the execution of external technical projects and collaborations
MANAGEMENT
2 scientists and 2 laboratory fermentation scientists (direct)
Shift teams - analytical testing (indirect)
External analytical contract resources and services
FERMENTATION EXPERT
Be a fermentation subject matter expert and Process Owner
o Provide business technology capability
o Provide fermentation and downstream processing expertise to operations, development programs, and other potential business locations
Provide leadership, technical training, and support manufacture at Sas Van Gent
Process support to ENOUGH Development team
EXPERIENCE
PhD / Degree educated in biochemical engineering or a relevant discipline
Min 5 years experience of working in the fermentation-based industry in a range of technical roles

Strong Microbiological background
Demonstrated experience with plant certification (eg FSSC-22000, ISO)
Strong organizational skills to meet the demands of a 24/7 business
Experience in leading Process Development and Research and Development plans
Technical staff management and development
