Analyst I, Fragrances Analytical Lab (full-time)
This experienced Team consist of 6 Analyst and 2 lab Technicians. The Fragrance Analytical Laboratory ensures quality control of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products. The department has a complete overview of the customer's requirements and the requirements set for the supplier, which play a role in Quality Assurance on the one hand and Quality Control on the other. This position reports to Supervisor QC Analytical Lab.
Scope:
You check and assess the quality of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.
Key tasks:
• Conducting all common (routine and non-routine) chemical, physical and instrumental analyzes for quality and process control.
• Applied techniques include GLC, GC-MS, HPCL, particle size and wet chemical and physical determinations.
• Solving problems, complaints and giving advise for replacements boarder line quality.
• Responsible for drawing up product specifications. Co-maintaining the Quality module in SAP.
• Supporting project groups.
Profile:
We are looking for a hands-on minded junior analyst who preferably has an HBO diploma in analytical chemistry. Some work experience (1-2 years) in the chemical industry or familiarity with Fragrance allergens is an advantage. You are familiar with automation within your field and you have a good command of the Dutch and English language. Finally, aspects such as customer focus, problem solving, and critical thinking skills are of great importance in the success of the position.
Working conditions:
It is a full-time temporary position for initially 7 months. You are willing to work on a regular base during the evening (till 20.00 p.m.)

IFF is a worldwide producer of Flavors and Fragrances that are used in a variety of consumer products. Consumer can experience these Flavors and Fragrances in drinks, candy, diary, pharmaceutical, food and savory products as in perfumes, beauty care products and laundry detergents.
I.F.F. (Nederland) BV consists out of two locations; a production location of Tilburg and a creative center in Hilversum. The production location is divided in two Business Units: Flavor and Fragrances. Flavors has four different factories; PPU, Spray dry, Liquid compounding and Liquid ingredient plant. Fragrances has two factories; Encapsulation and Compounding.

Function
Performing routine and non-routine analysis on of raw materials, intermediates and final products samples to guarantee and monitor the quality standard.
Result Expectations
Assessed raw materials, intermediates and finished products:
-Generate work instructions and procedures.
-Lead global conferences calls.
-Perform routine and non-routine analyses using wet chemical methods and instrumental analysis including GC, GCMS, HPLC.
-Perform sample preparation of all different samples
-Configure/setup of the lab equipment.
-Perform first line maintenance on lab equipment when a breakdown occurs.
-Generate analytical results and compare them to the set specifications, enter all generated data in the used Enterprise Resource System and provide rapports.
-Discuss deviations with QC Supervisor
-Block batches of incoming raw materials, produced intermediates and finished products that have a deviation
-Propose reprocessing, blending or rework opportunities to salvage blocked batches.
- Stop Production when a quality deviation is detected to minimize Non Conformities in production
-Initiate discussions with sensory evaluators about deviations in analyzed batches to align.
-Take the final decision on deviations detected in batches.
-Act as analytical expert in direct communication with vendors (as SME for Operational Buying) of raw materials to safe guard the quality standards.
-Perform Root Cause Analysis and communicate the results to all involved to implement Corrective actions and Preventive Actions
-Monitor and analyze trends.
-Handle investigate and give the follow up on customer complaints using thorough analytical techniques. Provide the communication to CSD and/or Supervisor QC.
-Communicate globally to our affiliates when deviations are found that have impact on a global scale.
Guaranteed product quality under deviating circumstances
-Perform and document analysis of specific nature when there is little documentation.
-Consulting professional literature and discuss with Supervisor QC.
-Adjust, discuss and communicate adjustments on existing analytical methods
-Generate Work Instructions and procedures.
-Discuss and align new or updated methods with affiliates and/or R&D
-Monitor performance of existing analytical methods and improve / optimize as necessary.
-Uses rigorous logic and methods, out of the box thinking, to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
Process quality information
-Take care of the administrative execution an documentation of the work performed for future references.
-Initiate communication to affiliates when needed.
-Discuss deviations on Masterdata locally and globally.
-Act as subject matter expert in meetings with analytical equipment vendors for opportunities to improve.
-Act as subject matter expert on Quality Management Systems (SAP, Analytical Software) on a global level and provide service and help when needed.
Guidance in workflow and performing employees.
-Signaling and reporting threatening resources shortages
-Cleaning of the laboratory, collection and disposal of waste
-Signaling flow stoppers (Breakdowns, resource shortages) on the department and react to restore the sample flow. If needed escalade to Supervisor or Manager.
-Knows how to organize people and activities
-Train junior analyst and analyst on Quality Management Systems and Routine Equipment Maintenance.
-Ensure compliance with the operating and safety regulations in the laboratory.
