The Sustainability Specialist (part of the Mission and Strategy team) is responsible for maintaining our sustainability and donations programs, and other mission-related initiatives.
Sustainability Impact Reporting & Monitoring by:
Lead the collection of social and environmental data for internal and external reporting, including social & environmental certification processes and annual reporting requirements (e.g., TRUE Certification for Zero Waste, FLOCERT, GHG Protocol Reporting, Carbon Disclosure Project, THESIS Sustainable Supply Chain reporting, EPA Renewable Energy reporting, How2Recycle, Extended Producer Responsibility, Canada’s Modern Slavery Act, Biodiversity & Sustainable Forestry standards).
Manage sustainability software and oversee data collection such as Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting (agriculture, refrigerants, packaging, waste, transportation, and team member commuting, etc)
Coordinate and support quarterly meetings to review sustainability performance and identify opportunities for further reductions in our manufacturing facilities, supply chain, and offices
Work with the Mission and Strategy, People & Culture, and Marketing Teams to develop the annual sustainability report and quarterly Sustainability & J.E.D.I. updates, highlighting our programs, progress, and incentives
Coordinate internal and external give-back requests (cash and/or in-kind product), and support team member volunteer initiatives
Ensure compliance with evolving certification standards and frameworks
Assist the Mission and J.E.D.I. Director where needed in the further development of strategic Sustainability and J.E.D.I. initiatives
Education:
Degree or Diploma in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered
Preferred experience:
3-5 years of experience supporting social and environmental sustainability programs and data integrity in food manufacturing or a similar role
CPG and or manufacturing experience
Experience with climate and agriculture-related projects and/or knowledge of setting carbon reduction targets and developing emission reduction plans in food manufacturing or similar
Technical proficiency with sustainability benchmarks, standards, and international frameworks such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Supply Shift, THESIS, EPA, etc.
Experience with internal and public-facing sustainability reporting
Strong problem-solving skills for data collection and reporting challenges
Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and aptitude for numbers and data analysis
Exceptional communication and writing skills, comfortable liaising with internal partners and external agencies
Proven ability to generate written materials that support leadership decision-making
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power Apps/Automate, and Power BI (or similar tools)

This is a hybrid (3 days in office) opportunity based out of our HQ in Richmond B.C. This role reports into Manuel Gorrin

This role will pay between $75,000 - $95,000 based on experience + a 10% bonus
