What we are looking for
Nūmi is looking for a Senior Cell and Media Development Scientist who will work closely within our Cell Biology Team with our Analytical Team on media development. The Senior Cell and Media Development Specialist will be responsible for leading media development projects and navigating through complex data sets to develop cell culture media formulations. Prior experience in cell line development, media optimisation and setting up process plans for in-process optimization are key requirements. As part of your mission at Nūmi you will:
- Maintain mammalian cell culture including expansion, and cryopreservation of cells
- Plan, execute, and analyze cultivation experiments with complex data sets to understand mass balances and metabolic shifts
- Engineer innovative cell manipulations with a product development mindset
- Analyze and present data to a multidisciplinary research team and communicate recommendations and ideas for future research efficiently
- Conduct literature searches in relevant scientific journals to optimize scientific approaches
- Mentor junior team members in designing and executing experiments while advancing the projects
Requirements
- PhD in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related engineering or life science discipline and 8+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree in the above fields with 12+ years of relevant industry experience
- Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques and establishment of cell lines
- Strong background in cell biology topics including cell cycle, proliferation, differentiation, and cellular adhesion
- Experience in DoE and other engineering type experimental design strategies
- Proficient in sterile aseptic handling of mammalian cells
- Growth mindset, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly and work independently as a self-directed problem solver
- Desire to work as a team player and build a diverse, collaborative, and kind work environment
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and deliver against timelines and competing priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Bonus
Ideally you have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:
- Experience working with high-throughput screening and lab automation
- Experience with 2D and 3D culture, microcarriers and/or cell bioreactors (small or large scale)
- Hands-on experience using CRISPR/Cas9 to edit eukaryotic genomes.
- Project management tools and Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) softwares
- Previous management experience
