Work Location: 3543 Nashua Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L4V 1R1
Work Hours: Full-Time Position. 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Flexible working arrangements are required, including the possibility of working on Saturday and/or Sunday during peak/busy seasons.
Work Environment: Production site, Office, Laboratory
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Quality Assurance and Sanitation team, establishing a best-in-class culture devoted to product safety and quality and driven to continuous improvement.
Proactively mitigate food safety risks and lead rigorous root cause analysis for any quality issues.
Investigate and coordinate responses to customer/consumer complaints, analyzing trends for corrective actions.
Develop, implement, audit, and continuously improve plant quality control programs, including GMP, HACCP, SQF, and NHP certifications.
Create, maintain, and validate all production and quality SOPs, SSOPs, and oversee digitization of quality logs to cloud software.
Support production efficiency improvements while maintaining quality standards.
Effectively communicate quality initiatives and changes across all departments.
Provide quality direction and training to the Quality, Sanitation, Supply Chain and Production personnel, fostering a strong food safety culture.
Act as a quality representative on project teams and oversee the overall process of equipment commissioning’s as it relates to quality assurance.
Support procurement and production teams in assessing risks of ingredients and packaging and resolving quality issues.
Manage the sanitation team and coordinate with chemical suppliers.
Collaborate with Product Development to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production, maintaining product safety.
Manage internal audit processes and act as the primary contact for third-party audits, ensuring compliance and customer support.
Comply with all relevant regulations, including Safe Food for Canadians Regulations, Weights & Measures, Labelling, and other municipal, provincial, and federal food laws.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Minimum 7 years Quality Assurance Management within a food processing facility, preferably with a focus on sensitive fluid processing.
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or Engineering.
Experience working with GFSI-compliant standards and serving as the primary liaison for third-party audits.
Strong adaptability in navigating fast-paced, evolving work environments.
High degree of autonomy and proficiency in utilizing both computer and food processing technologies.
Certification in quality management (e.g., SQF, HACCP, GMP, PCQI) is a plus.
