Join us as an Associate Scientist (Yeast Analytics and Applied Research)!
We are seeking an innovative Associate Scientist to join our BioEnergy R&D team, to advance our yeast analytical capabilities and generate insights into our 1G Biofuels yeast products. In this role, you will work within teams to develop and apply laboratory methods, assays and techniques to answer scientific questions relevant to industrial yeast application and development.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
Developing, validating and applying laboratory microbiological methods and techniques, including industrially-relevant scale down assays, to answer questions related to yeast applications in biofuel production
Working with project teams and subject domain experts, utilizing advanced yeast analytical techniques to generate data packages relevant for screening and selection of leads, elucidating mode of actions, and illustrating performance benefits
Working with the central analytical team and expanding our yeast metabolite profiling capabilities
Responsible for maintaining high quality and continuous improvement of assay protocols and procedures
Keeping up to date with state-of-the-art yeast analytical methods and techniques
Training and educating research associates and scientists in laboratory techniques as needed
Working with external vendors, equipment experts and external laboratories to enhance our capabilities
To succeed you must hold:
Microbiology / Microbial Technology related degree and experience: MS with min. 2 years relevant experience; or BS with min. 5 years relevant experience
Proficient in the use and application of advanced microbial analytical techniques (eg, flow cytometry, cell imaging, etc.)
Proficient in data analysis and statistical methods
Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory analytical equipment
Experience with laboratory fermentations is highly desirable
Familiarity with automation and high-througput techniques is highly desirable
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and within teams
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Location: Franklinton, NC (on-site)

Expected salary range: $71,000 - $85,000
