Protein Industries Canada (PIC) is seeking a Program Manager to support Members in the development and execution of capacity building projects that will advance Canada’s agrifood sector and create a competitive and sustainable global business environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide Global Innovation Cluster program guidance to Protein Industries Canada Members
- Planning, monitoring, analysis and assessment of Protein Industries Canada’s Capacity Building Program
- Identify needs of the sector and identify ways to address challenges
- Work with PIC Members to develop project proposals at the Expression of Interest and Full Proposal stages
- Participate in project proposal evaluations as part of the Programs team
- Work with clients to execute projects as a Steering Committee member, and monitor progress to ensure that consortia members are meeting the terms of Master Project Agreements
- Manage and evaluate ongoing projects through tracking of project milestones as reported by Steering Committees
- Support development of interim and final reports
- Support project consortia in management of change orders, foreign cost requests, and other project-specific approvals as required
- Present projects for approval at an external project selection committee
- Facilitate reporting to stakeholders on project progress, and collaborate with marketing colleagues to share success stories from Member projects
- Able to travel within Canada occasionally

You have collaborated with companies of various sizes and have experience interacting with public sector researchers. You are passionate about the agrifood industry, and eager to contribute to Canadian innovation.
Education and Experience
- A degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Business, Economics or related fields.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the agriculture and/or food processing sector
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder projects with budgets over $500,000
- The ability to work in a geographically dispersed environment
- Have excellent interpersonal and client services skills
- Completion of formal project management training and ability to communicate in both English and French (bilingual) will be considered an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous communities would be considered an asset
- Have 7+ years of related experience.
- A mix of other education and experience will be considered
