Within our Health & Functional (H&F) Business unit, the technical team is a combination of art and science, intimately bound with human psychologies and cultures. This team is the foundation and creative force of the flavors business, who develop creative food product concepts, evaluate new ingredients and delivery technologies, and most importantly, assist our Account Managers in winning new business.
The Technical Team helps improve targeted revenue and growth goals established for our Business Unit. Your primary focus is to develop knowledge of functional and nutritional ingredients (F&NI) within the collections and use this information to win business. You will accomplish daily brief-related tasks by applying this knowledge during the ingredient selection and evaluation process.
Your Title: Ingredient Selector II
Your Location: East Hanover, NJ
You will Report to: Group Leader Portfolio Manager
● Technical Expertise: Complete daily brief-related tasks including ingredient selection, product evaluation, and application development to meet customer requirements (botanical profile, health benefit, regulatory restrictions, cost). Expand your knowledge of regulatory as it relates to the Food and Nutraceutical industries. Identify appropriate functional ingredients in specific applications for customer projects.
● Team Collaboration: Maintain performance data for the H&F portfolio through evaluations in finished product and capturing of profiles. Lead evaluations of ingredients in applications for briefs and Portfolio projects. Summarize group tasting results to capture feedback in the systems.
● Partner and Influence: Develop collaborations with technical colleagues and other functional partners (Sales, Regulatory, and Production) to increase success with customer briefs. Manage projects, and providing technical support to the customer to provide solutions which meet the customer’s needs.
● Manage Organizational Effectiveness: Observing EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines. Manage stock libraries within the labs.
You?
● Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biology
● 2+ years of experience in the Food or Nutra industry
● Interpret data to select products based on customer requirements
● Strong organoleptic skills with the ability to describe flavor profiles
● Detailed, organized, and an enthusiastic team player who can respond to changing priorities
● Basic technical skills in Food supplement applications
