Job Summary
This is a 12-week program where interns will apply the knowledge and skills they've gained in the classroom by working alongside professionals at SunOpta. As part of the team, interns will gain valuable hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and improve processes. They will also gain insight into the latest trends in the food industry while helping to create new and innovative products.
Essential Functions Of The Legal Internship
Work with different in-house lawyers to gain exposure to, and develop an understanding of, different substantive areas of the law including contracts, compliance, litigation, intellectual property, and employment.
Lead 2-3 special projects, including presenting the results.
Assist with contract template, training material, and internal policy drafting.
Assist with commercial contract drafting / negotiation and litigation management.
Conduct legal research on evolving areas of law and regulation that affect SunOpta.
Provide general legal support.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited JD program and must have completed their first year of law school.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience.
Minimum cumulative law school GPA of 3.0.
Demonstrated leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, initiative and a strong work ethic.
Additional Considerations
Location: This position will be located at our corporate office in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Travel: May be required to other U.S. SunOpta locations for job-related functions.
Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
