The Country Operations Manager for Spain is accountable for the performance of all current and future OllecoBunge sites within Spain. Key responsibilities include ensuring safe and efficient operations that align with budgetary goals, expanding market share through organic growth and new product and service introductions, while optimising efficiencies from previous acquisitions.
Key focus required to consolidate newly acquired businesses into one efficient team to realise the goal of being the largest UCO collector and Fresh oil provider in Spain.
Principle Accountabilities
HEALTH & SAFETY – Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all areas of responsibility, ensuring that depot operations and team activities are carried out safely and in compliance with the company’s health and safety policies.
COMPLIANCE – Foster a culture of compliance, ensuring all sites and teams strictly adhere to the company’s policies and procedures across all areas of responsibility.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT– Develop the operation structure needed within the current team to enhance engagement and retention while achieving business objectives safely and compliantly. Oversee all aspects of line management, ensuring that new employees through acquisition and new recruitment undergo comprehensive induction, training, and development programs. Collaborate with HR to maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
COACHING Support team development and performance using a coaching approach.
STRATEGY – Collaborate with the Director of Operations (UK\EUR) to support the creation, implementation, and execution of an effective business strategy that drives growth, margin, and efficiency, aligning with OllecoBunge’s current and long-term goals.
GROWTH, REVENUE & MARGINS – Work with the appropriate colleagues throughout OllecoBunge, Bunge & Olleco to support the delivery of agreed growth, revenue and margins through new business, existing business retention, the identification of further acquisitions and the introduction of new products and services. Drive the effective integration of acquisitions.
PERFORMANCE – responsible for the performance of the allocated depots overall and by individual location.
REPORTING – attend meetings when requested and present on overall business performance, areas of success and concern. Report to the business on a regular and ad-hoc basis as required. Deliver regular reports which can be used by senior management to make informed decisions.
KPI’s – Use KPI’s to monitor performance and trends and act accordingly.
BUDGET – Responsible for all depots and budgets for operations within Spain and performance measured against this.
INNOVATION – Identify opportunities to innovate around the current operational offering and arrangements and ensure the Company remains efficient and up to date.
PROJECTS – Undertake projects which encompass areas outside of allocated depots and teams.
OTHER APPROPRIATE TASKS – Undertake other reasonable tasks and activities as requested by the organisation.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT – Continuously look for ways for all Spanish based businesses to work smarter.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field / professional qualification.
Proficiency in English and Spanish.
+/- 7 years of experience in Logistics, Industrial, Manufacturing, Commercial or Project Management is required.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Good commercial acumen and sense of urgency.
Attention to detail. Resilient and determined, enjoys challenges and able to overcome them positively.
Recognised Health and Safety qualification preferred.
Willingness to travel as needed (50% of your time).
Previous roles in operations relating to national logistics.
Ideally multi drop delivery.
Some experience of basic bulk liquid processing preferred.
Proven track record in building and developing depots and business across Spain.
Proven ability to resolve commercial challenges and manage customer demands.
Demonstrable people management skills – able to engage and motivate.
Identified and delivered improvements.
Experience of using data to identify opportunities to improve performance and delivering this.
