We are seeking an enthusiastic team player for the role of Lab Services Technician
Summary: Support TurtleTree R&D teams by ensuring access to clean and functioning lab space, glassware and devices.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Follow all Protocols and SOPs
- Utilize appropriate PPE for given duties/activities
- Collect spent and or dirty labware
- Clean labware using appropriate methods at appropriate levels of sterility
- Operate autoclave equipment as needed
- Restock labware in appropriate locations
- Maintain laboratory counter space cleanliness
- Stock benchtop consumables
- Removal of Biohazard waste containers
- Take and report consumable inventory levels weekly
- Report safety incidents and/or concerns
- Report maintenance needs to appropriate persons
- Light clerical work and office keeping
- Occasional fulfillment of offsite tasks; collect and deliver parcels
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks in support of the R&D teams
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
- Self-motivated, hard-working individual
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive work ethic
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, team setting
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to fluently read, write and speak English
- Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous lab environment experience preferred
- Associate degree in biotechnology or related field preferred
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and hazard communication.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
- Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time
- Reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard;
- Communication skills using the spoken word
- Ability to see and hear within normal parameters
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting
- The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
