We are looking for a Research Associate to join the team
Responsibilities:
- Independently execute assays for protein quantification and and analyze the results
- Assist in the development of protein quantification assays under the supervision of analytical lead
- Assist in the troubleshooting of analytical equipment with a focus on HPLC under the supervision of analytical lead
- Assist with additional analytical characterization including polysaccharide analysis
- Support research projects by conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports in a cross-disciplinary
- Participate in laboratory meetings and present findings to the team
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Experience / Skills:
- Experience recording data and performing calculations in excel or google sheets
- Collaborative with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Strong interest in biotechnology lab operations and methods
- Experience in relevant academic or industry laboratories is highly desired
- Weekend availability required
- Excellent laboratory skills, including pipetting, solution preparation, and data analysis
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science/Biomed Engineering
- Experience in various purification methods such as ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction/HIC, size exclusion, and affinity chromatography
- Familiarity with protein purification techniques and characterizing protein expression (quantification) and function using various techniques and tools such as BCA, SDS-PAGE, ELISA
- Experience with statistical data analysis tools such as JMP and R
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 30 pounds
- Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and complete work above shoulder level, hand dexterity to file paperwork or parts
- Must have correctable vision to perform duties of the job
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted
- Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment
- Position may require repetitive motion for certain tasks
