We're seeking a dynamic Technical Sales Manager to drive the growth of our innovative yeast protein ingredient, specifically targeting the European market. This role is ideal for a seasoned sales individual with a deep understanding of food science and a passion for sustainable food solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Acquisition and Retention: Support sales goals by developing and executing on a targeted sales strategy to acquire new customers and strengthen existing relationships with food and pet food manufacturers, CPG companies, and nutraceutical businesses across Europe. The Technical Sales Manager will lead from A to Z the negotiation of contracts (in line with the established commercial strategy), until signatures.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, including formulation guidance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. The sales manager will work closely with the business development director and may be present at some meetings for offtakes discussion.
Market Research: Identify and prioritize key European markets with high growth potential for our yeast protein ingredient. Stay up to date on industry trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory requirements to identify opportunities for product development and market expansion.
Project Management: Validate claims and value propositions through external collaborations. Manage external projects to ensure efficient and effective progress on projects.
Cultural Understanding: Build strong relationships with European clients by understanding cultural nuances and adapting sales approaches accordingly.
Willingness to travel (30-75%)
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in B2B sales within the European food ingredient industry.
2+ years of experience in food product development, preferably in the plant-based or alternative protein space.
Proven track record in selling natural or sustainable protein ingredients to European food and pet food manufacturers, CPG companies, or nutraceutical businesses.
Deep understanding of European food trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory landscape.
Strong network of contacts within the European food industry.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English and at least one other European language, preferably French.
Ability to travel extensively within Europe to meet with clients and attend industry events.
