Associate Director of Policy & Strategy
The Good Food Institute Israel (GFI Israel) is a nonprofit think tank, working to harness the power of local alternative protein research and innovation to target the world’s climate, global health, food security, and biodiversity goals. How You Will Make a Difference: In this role, you will lead efforts to shape and execute strategic initiatives that unite stakeholders across government, industry, and academia, driving transformative change in Israel and strategic regions worldwide. This is your chance to lead systemic change on a global scale.
The Associate Director will be responsible for:
- In-depth Knowledge of the Israeli Policy Landscape: experience in promoting policy initiatives within Israel, with a strong understanding of government processes, public sector frameworks, and relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working either within a consulting firm or in direct collaboration with consulting firms, particularly in policy-related or strategic initiatives.
- Experience contributing to or managing projects in technology oriented sectors
- Identifying and assessing new opportunities for public policy engagement across foreign governments and global organizations.
- Building and maintaining relationships with public stakeholders to secure foreign government support and foster the development of local alternative protein ecosystems.
- Creating compelling letters, factsheets, presentations, policy briefs, and other resources, to effectively convey GFI’s vision and goals.
- Representing GFI in meetings, conferences, and public events.
- Fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned by the VP of Strategy and Policy, contributing to departmental initiatives and policy-related projects.
The Associate Director must have:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience from a consulting firm or working with a strategic consulting firm on policy oriented projects (required).
- Experience working in government relations or international relations (strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to confidently engage with high-level officials, policymakers, executives, and politicians.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a track record of persuasively influencing decision-makers and fostering executive-level relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hebrew.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results within tight deadlines.
- Comfort working remotely and in a rapidly growing and evolving organization.
- Strong alignment with GFI’s mission, including a demonstrated commitment to causes such as environmental sustainability, public health, animal protection, or hunger relief.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Reports to: VP Strategy and Policy
Location: Hybrid, 1-2 days a week in Tel Aviv
