Mission
For the job position you will report directly to the cofounders of Nūmi while working closely with the technical team, notably the Chief of staff to the CTO. Overall, your goal will be to provide strategic counsel on all facets of patent law to advise and guide on intellectual property development and strategy.
- IP Strategy Building: Conduct IP clearance searches, risk assessments, and develop tailored protection strategies for Numi’s innovative technology and product
- IP Portfolio Management: Oversee, consolidate, and enhance Numi’s industrial property portfolio, including patents, by working hand in hand with the R&D team to identify innovation opportunities
- Business Strategic advice and Contract Review: Partner with other business functions to provide strategic advice in connection with strategic transactions, licensing agreements, and research collaborations. Draft, negotiate, and review agreements such as NDAs, licensing, coexistence, and assignment contracts, ensuring Numi’s interests are safeguarded.
- Internal legal advice: Provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to cross-functional teams while raising awareness of IP-related risks and opportunities. Work closely with the CEO to provide tailored support on key contracts, brand protection.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in managing industrial property in the life sciences industry (biotech, foodtech, medtech...).
- Experience as both in-house counsel and as outside counsel at a top-tier IP firm.
- Deep understanding of the biotech/pharma industry with an engineering or life sciences (preferably with a specialty in cell biology) education and holder of the CPI (Conseil en Propriété Intellectuelle) diploma
- Professional French and English required
