International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has an opening for a Maintenance Permit Coordinator at our Dayton, NJ site. The Maintenance Permit Coordinator works with the maintenance team and oversees all safety aspects of outside contractors, and assists mechanics where needed with safety set up for repair work throughout the plant. The coordinator is responsible for oversight of all contractors from a safety perspective, including conducting annual training, Permit writing (Basic permit, LOTO, hotwork, Line breaking, de-energizing), and frequent safety inspections on our contractors to make sure they are working in a safe manner. Part of this role will also be maintaining up to date communication with the production team, in the area where work is being performed.
As a Maintenance Permit Coordinator, you will spend your time...
- Permit Execution for all contractors: You will know in advance what contractors are in on a daily basis, and plan for the permits that will be needed for each job. Part of this will also be prepping the area leadership on the requirements for the work and follow up to make sure that the area to be worked on is ready to be worked in.
- Primary point of contact for communication – You will communicate to the maintenance supervisor and the area leader on status of job, from start to finish.
- Frequent follow up – Each contractor should be visited at regular intervals, to determine progress, and adherence to our safety policies.
- Job Completion – The coordinator will work with the contractor to the completion of all jobs for the day, and have successful hand offs to someone from maintenance, should the job continue past their normal working hours. It is expected that the coordinator will however follow through the next day with the job for updates on job completion, and work space returned and ready for production to work again.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and organized records of all permits. Ensure that all permits, including those written by maintenance are in compliance with our policies and procedures.
- Provide support to maintenance as needed for fire watch
- Provide support for audits that require information on safety procedures related to permitting and/or safety training.
- Monitoring – Stay informed about changes in policies that may impact the permitting process. Update internal teams on any new requirements or regulations affecting permits.
- Ensuring that equipment preparation requirements are communicated to operations and completed as required to ensure safe and efficient maintenance work
- Helping to Coordinate during scheduled weekend shutdowns.
- Assisting with continued development and implementation of safety protocols surrounding the permitting process, and/or safety SOP’s regarding proper shutdown prior to maintenance activities.
