We are hiring a Project Engineer to join IFF to perform project management and to also lead our Utilities team at our Dayton, NJ site. The successful candidate will work with site resources to identify short and long term projects funded by local repair and maintenance budget, or our capital budget. The candidate will also be responsible for the end-to-end execution of assigned Capital projects ranging from $50k to $3M and may execute projects up to $5M. Work will consist of analysis of historical work completed, analysis of maintenance practices and techniques, application of preventive and predictive maintenance technologies, and defect elimination. The Project Engineer will also oversee the utilities staff and track all preventative maintenance and repair projects within the utilities department. The staff includes 1 chief operator, 2 full time IFF employees, and 3-5 part timers/contractors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifying, designing, and implementing facility and equipment upgrades and incorporating projects into the site’s 5 year capital improvement plan.
- Executing on approved plant capital improvements, including design, procurement, project management, bid process, cost control, and vendor management during projects.
- Leading the Utility team, and overseeing Utility Operations, including scheduling coverage, coordinating repairs with vendors, and overseeing the preventative maintenance program which is performed by the boiler chief.
- Breakdown of work:
- 80% capital execution
- 10% plant support for repair and maintenance functions
- 10% utilities oversight
- Coordinates with Project Sponsor and Divisional Engineering Director to develop Business Objectives Letter
- Leads and provides input into developing the project objectives.
- Coordinates with the Site Engineering Manager / Regional Engineering Manager to develop project execution strategy and priorities to support achievement of business objectives.
- Coordinates with Finance to develop project economic model to support project justification and prioritization.
- Assisting in the identification and resolution of recurring reliability issues
- Assisting in the planning and coordination of plant utility shutdown repairs including direct supervision of contract maintenance crews
- Leading and participating in capital improvement projects and / or local repairs when expertise is needed.
- Performing job duties in a manner that follow food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.
