About the role:
We’re looking for passionate engineers who are driven by the challenge of developing scalable processes for cultivated meat. As a Senior Bioprocess Engineer at Uncommon, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and executing the processes that will bring our cultured meat products to commercial scale. As a key member of the Bioprocess team, you will shine through your biotechnology expertise and your ability to collaborate with others. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven, bold environment and is excited by the opportunity to help build our mission.
What you’ll be doing:
Be responsible for designing, executing and analysing experiments in our bioreactors.
Training and mentoring of junior staff on bioreactor process development.
Provide process development technical expertise on cross-functional projects including improvement of recovery, cost of goods, technology transfer and scale-up.
Collaborate with various R&D and Quality teams to ensure the suitability of the processes developed.
Optimise our processes, ensuring that they are robust and scalable.
Plan, install and run our new bioprocessing equipment.
Transfer our processes to pilot and commercial scales.
What we think you need:
Extensive experience in Bioprocessing, Biotechnology or Biochemical Engineering.
Substantial experience in aseptic cell culture.
Subject matter expert for bioreactor platforms at scales ranging 3L to 200L.
Hands-on mammalian bioprocessing experience (pluripotent stem cell experience is a plus).
Troubleshooting skills and problem-solving track record.
Using multifactorial experimental methods and/or QbD.
Understanding of GMP and relevant ISO standards.
We’d love it if you also have:
Experienced with a range of bioreactor platforms and control systems.
Experience with bioprocess automation and control engineering.
Experience scaling up and transferring processes from lab to manufacturing scale.
Experience in the assessment of potential equipment options.
GMP experience.
Experience with computer simulations and Process Analytical Technologies (PAT, CFD etc.).
