Who we are?
We are on the cusp of the next revolution in food production. Today most of the nutrients such as proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, come from animal-based food sources. Animal farming is responsible for 17% of global CO2 emissions. Tomorrow these nutrients will come from fermented microorganisms, using new production technologies with a greatly reduced carbon footprint. That means less CO2, cleaner water, more farmable land and fewer livestock animals.
Fermify contributes to this revolution by developing a fully automated microorganism-based proteins production platform. We developed precision fermentation technology which allows us to program the microorganisms to create almost any complex organic molecule - including proteins like casein to replace conventional animal-based nutrients. We are helping the 300 billion EUR diary industry become more environmentally friendly and efficient, while maintaining the end-product properties and quality.

What you'll be doing
· Conduct research on the techno-functional properties and the stability of novel dairy substitutes (i.e., lab experiments and literature)
· Perform food-relevant analyses and suggest innovative methods to unveil the techno-functional properties of the novel ingredients
· Contribute to formulation developments of innovative alternative dairy products
· Contribute to producing proof-of-concept and preparing product prototypes
· Contribute to performing sensory analysis of the product
· Analyze, organize, report, and present the resulting data accurately
· Support in lab inventory and maintain equipment
· Work and collaborate with other divisions or other external partners
Who you are
· Startup is where you always wanted to be. A fast-paced environment is your playground. You take full responsibility for how you do things. Business, science and technology are your favorite topics.
· PhD/MSc graduate in Food Technology/Food Science/relevant discipline, preferably with at least 1 year of working experience in the relevant industry (e.g., ingredient, FMCG, start-up)
· Passionate to work on alternative dairy products
· Prior knowledge of ingredient functionality/food physics
· Prior knowledge in sensory evaluation and food structure design is desirable
· Experience working in the lab
· Hands-on experience to evaluate and summarize scientific findings
· Results-driven, agile, can work under pressure and tight deadline
· Self-starter and take ownership of the project
· A superior command of English
· Available to work full-time (38.5 hours/week), preferably starting as soon as possible
· The position will be in Vienna, Austria. So, you should be able to relocate
