IFF is hiring a new position of Process Engineer for his Manufacturing Technology France team. This position will serve the different Cultures business sites in France. The position will be based in one of our production sites (Dangé-Saint-Romain (86) / Epernon (28)).
In this role, you will be a key player for industrialization of new strains as well for transferring strains between sites in France/Europe. As a process engineer, you will contribute to the implementation of continuous improvement actions, resolution of operational problems as well as improvement of technologies and processes in terms of safety and food safety. The candidate will also support investment projects and be responsible for some key aspects of the capital project flow.
Key responsibilities:
Continuous improvement and industrialization support (70%)
Identify, prioritize and execute continuous improvement actions and monitor their effects on industrial scale.
Lead the execution of new industrialization and inter-site transfers in France/Europe and evaluate scale-up.
Communicate industrialization/transfer reports to Process R&D, Culture and application development teams, Quality, and Supply chain.
Determine production capability through bottlenecks study, capacity plan and propose an action plan.
Initiate, support and use digital methods: to capture data, analyze data using statistical tools
Participate in inter-site Manufacturing Technology technical network (global)
Operational support and investment projects (30%)
Take the lead in resolving operational problems related to the process.
Investigate, propose, and execute solutions to maintain/improve operational KPIs
Deliver basic data and develop process technology documentation by defining the project needs in the context of process modifications.
Perform RTO start-up operations (FAT/SAT – QI/QO/QP)
Assist with PSM (Process Safety Management) program; PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis) and initiate/participate MOCs (Management of Change) processes.
Job requirements
Master or Engineer degree in Biotechnological Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Biological Engineering
1 to 3 years experience in (bio) “process/engineering design” in an industrial/pilot environment is required
Experience in bio-industrial fermentation production environment is a plus
Proven track records in initiating process improvements and leading projects.
Be rigorous and impeccable in respecting (food) safety rules
This position may require mobility of approximately 25% of the time to support the different sites in France/Europe.
Being fluent (French and English) is mandatory for this position

Good Knowledge of the unit stages of fermentation (media preparation, process parameters, etc.), separation (centrifugation, membrane filtration technologies, etc.) and stabilization (cryo freezing, lyophilization, etc.)
Good knowledge of basic equipments; pumps, energy exchanger, valves, instrumentation, piping, etc. and how to integrate them into production units.
Good practical knowledge of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
Able to listen and understand internal customers’ needs to accelerate product development and process improvements.
