We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Plant Pathologist to support our team in conducting contained disease assays on tropical plants. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our research and development efforts, focusing on understanding and mitigating plant diseases in a controlled environment.
This role suits applicants looking to transition from PhD candidacy to their first role within an Agritech industry setting, as you will have the opportunity to be trained by leading scientists in a rapidly developing area of Pathology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a pivotal within a team of researchers and technicians in conducting disease assays.
- Design and implement experiments to study plant-pathogen interactions.
- Develop and optimize protocols for contained disease assays.
- Analyse data and prepare detailed reports on findings.
- Collaborate with other departments and external partners to advance research goals.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in plant pathology and integrate new techniques into research projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all laboratory activities.
Requirements
Educational background
- Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or a related field.
Core Competencies
- Extensive experience in conducting disease assays.
- Strong statistical knowledge and experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) for data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Competencies
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to perform and interpret various statistical tests such as ANOVA, regression analysis, and multivariate analysis.
- Proficient in data visualization techniques to effectively communicate research findings.
