We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a
Fermentation Technician position to help support the development of novel microbial fermentation processes for multiple bioalternative products. This role will assist with (1) preparing media and other reagents, (2) processing fermentation samples and (3) setting up and deconstructing bioreactors alongside a team of dedicated engineers and scientists at our Augusta Bio Facility. The ideal candidate is hard working, reliable, and eager to learn about fermentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare media and other liquid solutions to support fermentation process development activities
- Assist with the creation of batch records and SOPs for fermentation-related processes
- Participate in the set up and break down of bench scale bioreactors
- Support fermentation sample processing – including microbial staining and measurement of various analytes
- Assist with monitoring fermentation process performance when requested
- Support activities related to general lab management, maintenance, and operations
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Engineering or a related field
- >1 year of hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting, preferably in the life sciences industry
- Experience working with chemicals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions, batch records, and SOPs accurately
- Proficiency in data entry, record-keeping, and laboratory documentation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with microorganisms and aseptic technique
- Experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC)
