The Quality Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as a Food Safety Quality Technologist.
The FSQA Technologist will play a pivotal role in managing food safety and quality programs for both raw and ready-to-eat (RTE) materials. This role includes hands-on execution of processes, building and verifying food safety programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The FSQA Technologist will also provide support under minimal supervision, assist in training, and engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders to foster a reliable and sustainable food safety culture.
Note: The FSQA Technologist will also assume the duties of the FSQA Leadership members during temporary leave of absences, ensuring that all responsibilities are covered.
Tasks, Duties, & General Responsibilities
- Food Safety & Quality Compliance:
- Implement and verify food safety and quality programs.
- Monitor and document records related to raw and RTE materials, processes, and sanitation.
- Conduct raw material inspections, daily GMP walkthroughs, and document reviews.
- Perform hands-on data collection, analysis, and sensory evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including FDA food laws and export requirements.
- Assist product releases and provide training on food safety protocols.
- Program Management & Reporting:
- Oversee and enhance food safety programs, including vendor management.
- Assist in the complaint programs, including investigation and resolution.
- Conduct internal and external audits and provide support for FSQA audits and compliance checks.
- Maintain and update vendor specifications and documentation.
- Collaborate with various teams on ingredient shelf-life extensions and FSQA training.
- Participate in FSQA and leadership meetings and assist with innovative product research.
- Vendor & Customer Engagement:
- Serve as the primary contact for vendor approval and complaint management.
- Conduct vendor reviews and audits, also assist in ingredient specifications review.
- Address customer inquiries related to food safety programs and maintained customer portals.
- Administrative & Specialized Programs:
- Maintain FSQA documentation.
- Analyze product performance, quality, and compliance data.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Trace Gains.
Qualifications
Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in food science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in QA, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance or Risk Management
- FDA experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ingredient functionality, formulation, nutrition, and food labeling regulations.
- Certifications/Training in PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual), SQF (Safe Quality Food) Certification and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Training preferred.
- Willingness to become a licensed forklift operator.

- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- In-office five (5) days per week and able to work flexible shifts as required based on position needs. Occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will also be required based on company needs.
- Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas specifically requiring a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.

- Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
- Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.
**Annual salary commensurate with experience**
The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $70,000 and $85,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
