Position Title: Regional Sales Manager, East Coast
Location: NYC metropolitan area
Reports to: Director of Business Development & Product
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Our client is a plant-based seafood company. Their first product is a whole-cut, plant-based salmon filet, served at select restaurants across the United States. We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Regional Sales Manager to lead the company's growth in the New York restaurants & food service channel.
About the role:
We're looking for a Regional Sales Manager to be one of the first members of the company's U.S. team. This individual will lead our growth by expanding our sales in the New York area. This dynamic role demands a proactive approach and excellent interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in expanding the company's sales in the U.S. while collaborating closely with leadership to follow the business outreach and expansion plan that focuses on food service and distribution.
Responsibilities:
- Sales strategy and execution: Align the sales plan to drive business growth with food service customers and distributors. Lead the end-to-end sales funnel, including lead generation, in-person cold outreach, visiting restaurants and engaging with the chef and team, meeting with chefs to pitch our product and cook it together, processing purchase orders (POs), account management, solving problems on the go, and more.
- Sales expansion: Identify and cultivate sales growth opportunities through events, partnerships, menu expansion, diversified sales channels, and more.
- Account management: Manage and grow existing customer accounts by providing exceptional service, understanding their needs, and offering solutions that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Product presentations and demos: Conduct product presentations, tastings, and demonstrations to showcase the benefits and quality of Oshi’s plant-based salmon product. Educate customers on product usage, preparation, and menu integration.
- Sales tracking and reporting: Manage and update the sales CRM; track goals and objectives to ensure company growth according to set targets.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing and operations team to ensure customer success. Provide feedback on customer preferences and market demands to inform product development.
- Trade Shows and Events: Represent Oshi at trade shows, food industry events, and customer meetings.
The Opportunity:
- Become one of the first employees in the U.S. of a rapidly growing international startup.
- This role reports to the company's senior leadership, providing you with excellent exposure to broader strategic thinking and decision-making.
- Abundant opportunity for business development creativity.
- Opportunity to sell a novel, one-of-a-kind product that is the plant-based analog to the most popular whole-cut fish in the world.
- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
- Make a direct positive impact on the planet: every dish sold in new restaurants through your work helps our oceans, climate and threatened wild salmon populations.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in sales or business development, especially within the food service industry.
- Culinary background or experience working in food service/restaurant–preferred!
- Strong understanding of the food service industry, including key players and market dynamics (experience interacting with distributors, brokers, restaurants, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote or field-based role.
- An authentic “people’s person” with a sociable personality.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Genuinely understand the stakeholders in the process and their motivations in order to drive sales (including waiters, chefs, restaurant owners, and so on.)
- Results-oriented with strong execution skills and a hands-on attitude.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, with frequent changes and pivots.
- A team player open to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Experience working with CRM systems – preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree – preferred.
This is a full-time position based in New York that requires travel to Manhattan and Brooklyn several times a week.
