We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced R&D Scientist to be responsible for our production of alternative bovine caseins by precision fermentation
As an integral part of our research team, you will work on the R&D Casein Program to produce, validate and improve protein functionalities with the mission to explore sequence design and metabolic engineering of different microorganisms.
The job is based in Lyon.
What You Will Be Doing
Operational Leadership :
Design and execute all project development stages from idea to strain engineering and fermentation experiments, interpret data, and integrate results into overall project plans
Define the priorities of the project execution with respect to resource planning allocation and the development orientation of the R&D Casein Program
Work with a cross-functional team of interdisciplinary experts with background in molecular biology, food design, precision fermentation, and business
Conduct closely the work with our R&D external partners
Maintain diligent, up to date and organized records of all experimental results
Present results, conclusions and recommendations assisting in project decision-making
Provide scientific and tactical guidance for efficient project execution
Ensure project execution in time and budget is following accordingly
Scientific Excellence
Accountable for providing cutting edge scientific solutions for project execution, especially those in the field of sequence design, genetic engineering and precision fermentation.
Apply your expertise in strain development to define strategies to optimize biosynthetic routes for recombinant protein production in yeast, bacteria and fungi.
Able to use computational tools for sequence design and strain engineering in the domain on complex proteins
Is up-to date regarding current scientific trends and actively make proposals for technological innovation
Able to support the scale up of protein production from laboratory to commercial production.
Is able to design solutions meeting customer needs based on scientific developments
About you:
+4 years of experience in production of complex proteins by precision fermentation where different strain engineering strategies has been applied
Minimum PhD degree in the field of expertise specific to Biotechnology and Genetic engineering
Proven track record of protein sequence design using AI tools
Experience in R&D project management using agile tools (MVP, Sprint, Scrum)
Experience designing, executing, and troubleshooting a wide range of biological assays such as HTS assays and protein expression/purification
Highly innovative scientist mindset driven by creativity, building a positive and engaging team dynamic, and translating ideas into effective execution plan
Strong willingness to collaborate transversally
Strong skills in communication with key internal and external stakeholders
Working through multitasking in a complex and fast-paced technical environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
Strong organizing, documenting and decision-making skills
