As we near completion of a new plant and prepare for commercialization, we are seeking Downstream Operators to join our team in Wilson, North Carolina.
Summary of role and team:
As a Downstream Operator you will support the commissioning and scale-up of our new cultivated meat processing plant. You will play a critical part in various downstream operations, including kitting, mixing, extrusion, packaging, palletizing, sanitation, and cleaning.
You will ensure that operations are carried out efficiently, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to a range of downstream operations. As the factory scales up, you will specialize in one or more of these functions based on your skills, capabilities, and interests.
Your day-to-day:
Commissioning and Scale-Up: Assist in the setup, testing, and validation of new equipment and processes to ensure they are operational and meet production specifications.
Kitting: Prepare and organize necessary materials and components for production processes.
Mixing: Operate and monitor mixing equipment to ensure proper blending of ingredients.
Extrusion Operations: Manage and control extrusion equipment for various processing needs.
Sanitation: Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas to maintain a clean and safe production environment.
Packaging: Operate packaging machinery and ensure products are correctly packaged and labeled.
Palletizing: Organize and stack packaged products onto pallets for storage and shipment.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
Safety & Quality: Work according to EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and Quality guidelines and in collaboration with these teams.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent plus technical or vocational training.
Previous experience in a food processing, bioprocess, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in processing operations.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
Ability to independently operate machines including assembly, manufacture, disassembly, and cleaning.
Technical and mechanical skills that enable effective troubleshooting of machines
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Basic computer capabilities – HMI (Human-Machine-Interface) and production’s reports
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
