Position Overview The Payroll Lead is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing payroll in accordance with federal and multi-state regulations and in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and GAAP standards. In this role, the incumbent will research, recommend, and implement approved systems and process changes that improve quality and efficiency within the function.

Essential Job Functions
Oversees the completion of all day-to-day payroll administration, processes, and system setup.
Maintains and updates payroll processes to align with current best practices and auditing controls.
Partners with the HRIS team to research and recommend system changes to optimize use of ADP.
Implements payroll module changes to streamline processes and procedures.
Updates employee data and audits ADP to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Trains and assists employees with payroll self-service functionality and adapts system based on feedback.
Processes bi-weekly US payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees nationwide.
Identify and remediate issues that interfere with payroll administration and compliance and escalate to leadership as necessary by providing recommendations for resolution.
Creates and prepares both custom and standard payroll reports for stakeholders.
Calculates and enter payroll deductions including benefits, garnishments, tax withholdings, and any other employee deductions.
Enters garnishment requests in payroll system in timely manner and responds to related inquiries.
Enters payroll employee changes such as pay rates, addresses, direct deposit info, benefit plans, etc.
Administers all aspects of the company's payroll records including digital archiving of data.
Develops payroll processes to ensure division of duties meets auditor standards and best practices.
Reviews and transmits employee 401(k) deferrals and match funds on a timely basis.
Facilitates audits related to payroll processes including annual 5500, worker’s compensation insurance, and financial audits.
Verifies payroll tax return filings prepared by payroll service providers, including quarterly and annual tax forms and filings.
Develops payroll-related reports and analyses to support management needs.
Maintains current employee records and processes terminations within HRIS systems, in accordance with state, federal, and county requirements.
Maintains working relationship with managers to resolve employee issues in an efficient and employee friendly process; responds to employee and manager payroll requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
Refers employee inquiries related to company policies to HR.
Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expert with ADP systems and administrative functions.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with particular experience in intermediate use of Excel.
Familiar with US and multi-state payroll laws.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Skilled in paying close attention to detail.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will have one direct report.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Education And Experience
7 or more years of experience processing payroll for at least 500 employees in a manufacturing company along with 3 year of experience processing payroll in ADP, AND
High school diploma or equivalent; OR
Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks.
Physical Demands
Position requires the ability to sit for up to approximately two hours at a time.
May be required to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment
The primary work environment for this position is within an office setting. There are no adverse conditions associated with this position.
