Requirements
- 6-8 years of customer/commercial marketing, commercialization, or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field (required)
- Experience in CPG, Food & Beverage (natural & conventional grocers, mass-market retailers)
- Experience with syndicated data (ie: SPINs, Nielsen, IRI) and category management
- Must have proven track record in leading/growing commercial marketing and sales
- Able to travel up to 20% to support trade events, customer calls, etc.
Job Responsibilities
As the Commercial Marketing Manager, you will lead customer marketing and sales initiatives aimed at achieving business objectives. Your role involves devising and implementing comprehensive commercial and customer marketing strategies to reinforce the company’s and brands’ leadership in their respective categories. This entails close collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and execute marketing campaigns that effectively reach and engage target audiences. Your responsibilities also include analyzing market dynamics, competitor activities, and consumer insights to drive strategic decision-making and enhance marketing effectiveness. You will oversee market analysis, competitive landscape assessment, and identify growth opportunities both within and beyond the current product portfolio. Moreover, you will spearhead the creation and upkeep of sales resources, consumer education plans, and play a pivotal role in launching new products to market.
Essential Duties
- Lead Life Cycle Management and Stage Gate processes for innovation, ensuring timely product launches aligned with sales and marketing goals.
- Oversee the creation of compelling marketing collateral to support commercial initiatives, including sales materials and presentations.
- Align sales guidance with marketing efforts, supporting lead generation and conversion while championing a customer-centric approach.
- Collaborate with marketing analysts and channel partners to optimize marketing effectiveness through test and learn agendas and best practices.
- Participate in developing and executing comprehensive go-to-market plans for launches and current product lines.
- Devise and execute internal and external marketing communications strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Implement and evaluate competitive and commercial account marketing plans, tailoring strategies to specific accounts and priorities.
- Oversee the execution of Commercial Marketing Plans in collaboration with Omnichannel Marketing, Shopper Marketing Managers, Brand Marketing, Insights, and Sales teams.
- Collaborate with Sales and Retail teams to achieve key commercial objectives beyond campaign concepts.
- Serve as the primary commercial driver for the Account marketing team, identifying growth opportunities and recommending category-level business opportunities.
- Provide support in Account planning and integrate commercial drivers into sell-in presentations, including seasonal sell-in meetings and business reviews.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence by providing leadership and mentorship to the sales and marketing team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possess expertise in marketing strategy, encompassing life cycle management, stage gate processes, and go-to-market planning.
- Demonstrate a highly analytical and strategic mindset, coupled with a customer-oriented approach and extensive experience in commercial marketing and category management, to identify pivotal avenues for brand growth.
- Utilize advanced market and sales analysis skills to scrutinize market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer insights.
- Align marketing strategies with sales objectives across diverse product lines, ensuring a comprehensive commercial strategy across various channels and accounts.
- Customize marketing initiatives to effectively address customer needs, prioritizing a customer-centric approach.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate marketing and sales efforts seamlessly.
- Implement brand positioning and messaging strategies to enhance brand management and resonance.
- Exhibit proficiency in project management, including planning, executing, and evaluating marketing campaigns, particularly for retailer meetings.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nurture a culture of collaboration and excellence across cross functional teams.
- Possess strong writing and presentation skills, adept at presenting information analytically and simplifying complex business inquiries.
Job Details
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, business hours; Remote or Hybrid
- Work Attire: Use good judgment, keeping in mind the nature of their work, their safety and the safety of others, and their need to interact with the public.
- Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000
