Job Description
Scope of Role:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor provides leadership and overall direction to the total quality program, ensuring that all internal quality standards and external regulatory standards are maintained at the plant, vendors, and (external) storage locations. The QA Supervisor provides support, coaching, and training to all employees in all aspects of the Company’s quality program. QA Supervisor should drive product food safety initiatives and quality continuous improvement efforts.
Role And Responsibilities
Provides direct leadership and mentoring of QA techs and is responsible for their performance with respect to quality.
Supervises quality functions in the facility implementing and ensuring systems are in place to adhere to the company’s quality operating standards.
Responds to reports on food safety and food quality issues.
Provides point leadership on quality incidents and directs and controls all activities to closure.
Leads quality improvement efforts working with all staff as required.
Leads and guides all work to control products and prevent further incidents by implementing effective solutions.
Executes both internal and external activities to ensure all adversely affected products are placed on hold.
Shares responsibility with production manager to ensure that plant sanitation requirements are met.
Train on FSQA procedures, policy, and programs.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Mange EMP schedule.
Manage Allergen verifications and validations.
Mange sanitation verification and validation process.
Food Safety And Quality Responsibilities
Develop, implement, review, maintain, communicate, take actions, and overall ensure the integrity and validity of the company’s food safety and quality.
Qualifications For Skills & Experience
Minimum Education: Associate degree and/or ample experience in the food industry – bachelor’s preferred.
Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HACCP plans.
Formal, documented HACCP training (required).
Experience working in food manufacturing.
Understanding of various analytical and testing methods.
Experience with and understanding of verification and validation processes for equipment, processes, and product specifications.
Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time and frequently push, pull, bend, and reach.
Must be flexible for overtime, weekend, and holiday work.
Must be able to lift, stand, squat, twist, stretch, reach, and pull; must be ok to work in hot and cold climates.
