The Process Engineer will be required to define, document, and implement the best manufacturing technologies while developing, maintaining, and implementing machinery and processing specifications. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing engineering projects as assigned by the Process Engineering Manager and take responsibility for execution of the assigned scope of work within the constraints of the schedule, budget, and specifications. The position requires high responsibility, leadership, decision-making ability, and self-sufficiency.
• Use team management skills to lead the design during the conceptual phase of project development
• Assess vendors for competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status. Review and negotiate bid documents
• Accountable for project development, creating and updating P&IDs, PFDs and any other documentation required for the definition of scope of work
• Prepare conceptual engineering designs and floor plans for process equipment
• Determine the layout of piping, equipment and utilities for engineering changes.
• Prepare validation and flush plans for process tie-ins, and support plant shutdown weekend activities.
• Verify installation of new equipment and support commissioning and validation efforts.
• Act as a processing subject matter expert with the team in support of the project management, automation, and performance optimization groups.
• Define and develop all aspects of dairy and non-dairy processing equipment used in manufacturing of Greek yogurt and non-dairy products.
• Participate in all phases of a project from initial team meetings though pre-award support, proposal generation, installation, commissioning and start up as assigned by the Project Manager, specify processing equipment which meet project expectations within the time and budget constraints of the approved project.
• Provide guidance and expertise to plant operations, project managers and other functions as necessary in the development of packaging related projects.
• Interact with operation, marketing, quality, sales and multiple equipment suppliers.
• May be assigned as project manager on specific projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Processing, Mechanical, Biochemical or Chemical engineering programs
5-7 years of experience in a similar engineering role
Experience in dairy processing processes, including pasteurization, separation, etc. Desirable but not required
Experience in processing equipment and materials as related to the food and beverage industry
Working knowledge of project life cycle deliverables, contract & schedule
Knowledge in sizing pumps, piping, and other general dairy processing equipment
Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project, CAPE or TOPS, and Autocad
Pro-activity, personal drive, decisiveness, commercial/business discernment, communication skills, excellent teamwork skills, organizational competency, and the ability to prioritize
Must be willing to travel and may occasionally spend significant periods of time on site (may include weekends when necessary)
May be required to work in a site environment in the presence of heavy equipment, smoke, dust, and noise
