As an Engineer II at IFF, you will define, conduct, and lead research and development projects, leveraging your deep expertise and proactive application of scientific principles, theories, and experimental designs across multiple disciplines. You will continuously evaluate individual projects and independently implement necessary changes to meet business objectives. Recognizing critical program needs, you will provide leadership within your specialization, tackling increasingly complex technical tasks and expanding beyond your specific expertise. You will seek greater personal responsibility and take charge of driving organizational goals, identifying and solving diverse, challenging, and poorly-defined problems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Advance technical solutions in support of the project team to drive projects to completion by project and technical leadership.
- Applies broad scientific/technical expertise to provide innovative, novel & creative solutions which have commercial viability; ideas and insights show a good balance of breadth & depth.
- Uses experience to serve as a consultant for general innovation problem solving within the team.
- Identifies and explores opportunities to meet a market goal within or beyond an existing program. Develops own technical development direction within assigned programs.
- Works with leaders to establish group/competency goals & objectives to meet business strategy/tactics.
- Helps customers, partners, peers and stakeholders to understand the applicability of technology to meet customer and business needs and to achieve competitive advantage for the business.
- Understands freedom to operate issues and ensures right to work in area.
- Provides key scientific/technical information based on customers' needs, competitive activity and business strategy.
- Has established an IP portfolio by filing Invention Disclosures and Patent applications.
- Champions projects/solutions and influences the organization to deploy necessary resources aligned with business strategy and priorities.
- Encourages and participates in establishing an open safety and scientific dialog in the work group.
- Act as a cultural ambassador for the group.
- Leads or participates in safety committees or task teams.
- Acts as a EH&S resource.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- 3+ years' experience in engineering role (capital project management and maintenance/reliability focus within the food or pharma industry)
- Experience collaborating with other teams within a plant setting.
- PMP certification is a plus
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
