After years of research, Planted was founded in July 2019 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich. Our revolutionary plan will make the world a better place. We structure meats from plants that is no way inferior to animal meat, scores with unique taste, and authentic texture, and is miles ahead in terms of sustainability and health!
Planted is more than a delicious product - it's also an attitude. We want to radically change the way meat is perceived and consumed and inspire a shift from eating animal proteins to eating plant proteins.

Your mission:
- You test the functional properties of various raw materials regularly and support product development projects as a subject matter expert.
- You assist in creating new prototypes for plant-based food products, focusing on formulations and quality.
- You contribute to integrating new raw materials into existing production processes and maintain the raw material database.
- You manage and organize research and development projects at the crossroads of food science, material science, biotechnology, and processing.
- You scout for innovative raw materials to enhance and develop plant-based products, maintaining active communication with suppliers.
- You stay updated on current scientific and patent literature and share insights with the team.
- You act as a bridge between formulations, raw materials, and product development, fostering collaboration across disciplines.
- You take on additional tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
You:
- Hold a higher education degree in food science, with expertise in analytical methods.
- Work comfortably in a laboratory setting, creating prototypes, optimizing formulations, conducting tastings, performing analytical tests, and integrating feedback.
- Have ideally first-hand experiences with food extrusion processes
- Excel under pressure, embracing unconventional scientific ideas and managing deadlines with resilience.
- Have solid knowledge in food science, particularly analytical testing, and feel at ease engaging with suppliers to identify new ingredients.
- Are passionate about plant-based food, especially meat alternatives, and motivated to contribute to the field.
- Collaborate effectively as a team player, taking responsibility and demonstrating entrepreneurial thinking with independence.
- Bring creativity, flexibility, and a high-performance mindset to your work, going the extra mile to achieve excellence.
- Possess a valid work permit for Switzerland, allowing you to contribute locally.
