Numerous investments in Europe’s alternative protein sector are driving demand for talent in the space: Green Alliance, a think tank, estimates that the alternative protein industry could create 25,000 jobs by 2035 in the UK alone.
With the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) announcement that it is allocating €5 billion annually to agriculture and bioeconomy initiatives, Denmark’s MATR Foods’ receipt of €20 million to expand production of meat alternatives, Barcelona-based Heura Foods raising $40 million in its Series B round, and the European Union earmarking €50 million for the development and scaling of food from microorganisms “to improve the sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of the European food supply chain,” the need for industry expertise in Europe is greater than ever.
