At Soli Organic, safety is our #1 priority. The Food Safety Specialist “FSS” is responsible for maintaining effective Food Safety, Quality, and Organic programs for all departments at their assigned location(s). This will require; effective communication regarding Food Safety with all levels of the organization, leading and participating in Food Safety continuous improvement projects, conducting Food Safety training. These responsibilities will include maintaining full document compliance, including HACCP, SSOPs, and 3rd party audits as well as submission of information as required.
Requirements
- Responsible for the development, management, operational compliance, and certification of; food safety programs, organic growing/handling programs, microbial program compliance, allergen program, critical traceability programs, and sanitation compliance for Shenandoah Growers, Inc.
- Responsible to ensure the site performs to the required standards of quality and food safety according to SGI policies, procedures, and practices, delivering all accountabilities through direct involvement with manufacturing support personnel on a 24/7/365 basis. Supporting the talent management process for hourly employees by proactively engaging in the development and training of hourly labor and support.
- Responsible for the identification and execution of continuous improvements at the site and working with Corporate Food Safety in the execution of corporate programs, submitting information as required.
- Leads the facility in third party and customer audit preparation. Facilitates all food safety audit events.
- Leads the cross-functional Food Safety team monthly meetings; issue agendas, minutes and action items. Ensures 100% attendance and member engagement.
- Ensures source product compliance with oversight of product inspection program management, and approved vendor management with the procurement and receiving teams.
- Directs, plans, and implements traceability testing and monitoring through timed mock recalls on a 24/7/365 basis.
- Ensures any required federal and state food safety laws, regulations, corporate policies, and practices are monitored and up to date, and that our programs are compliant.
- Responsible for the environmental and microbial program compliance for the facility including microbial program metrics are established, and the delivery of the established metrics and Key Performance Indices.
- Accountable for all required program training for the facility to ensure compliance and execution of established policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Accountable for the verification, collection, and proper storage of all food safety related documents and records.
- Attends and participates in Corporate Food Safety conference calls. Responsible for action items identified in the call and all other Corporate Food Safety requests.
- Responsible for compliance with all regulations. Assure production facility is always in a proper sanitary condition, including allergen control and pest control guidelines. Compliance with food safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for supporting the execution of relevant projects within the assigned area.
- This position has dotted line reporting responsibility to Corporate Food Safety
