Job Summary: Under general supervision engages in automation activities in conjunction with maintenance to increase plant productivity and capacity. Assists in Maintenance Work preparations to improve work efficiencies and increase plant performance. Perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes. Develops reports, and other tracking tools from control systems. Supports all policies, goals and objectives of the company, follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and safety procedures while performing job duties. Adheres to all procedures and practices associated with Food Safety, Food Security and Food Quality. Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Implements controls and electrical plant process improvements. Troubleshoots basic hardware and process issues. Conducts maintenance on controls network. Tests existing control systems based on customer specifications and develops documentation for changes. Works with other internal staff to implement projects. Provides basic technical controls and electrical support to internal customers Ensures safety and legal requirements are being observed on tasks/projects. Orders parts necessary for project implementation. Develops basic controls training programs for maintenance staff to troubleshoot MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum level of education required High School Diploma or GED Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience 2 years of controls technician, instrumentation technician, electronics technician experience. Other job requirements (e.g. certifications/licenses, CPG experience, work overtime/weekends, etc.) Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or overtime PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.) Experience working with automation equipment. Excellent communication skills. Proficient with RSLogix 5000, MS Office, WW System Platform, InTouch, Siemens Step 7, Ignition, and FactoryTalk. Ability to handle multiple projects of varying size Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Experience working in a food environment (GMPs). Experience working independently on duties that they require extensive planning, coordinating, and prioritizing. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Climbing. Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time. The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. WORK ENVIRONMENT The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
