Special Equipment Used: Scissor lift, boom lift, forklift, sweeper, welders, cutting torch, plasma cutter, box & pan brake, sheet metal shear, specialized test equipment or tools for electrical and automation testing and repairs, various hand and power driven tools (electrical, gas and pneumatic) Job Description: In cooperation with Modesto Junior College and the Stanislaus County Joint Apprenticeship Council all participants will begin a 4-year training program. Each participant will be required to attend at minimum 576 hours of classroom instruction all while accumulating 8000 hours of on the job training through the Blue Diamond Growers Turlock Maintenance Department. Each participant will attend classes at MJC, while working a 40-hour work schedule. Trainees will be required to work all shifts at different times throughout the course of the 4-year program. Throughout the course of the program satisfactory completion of all class work and on the job supplemental work is expected; participants will promote through (4) job tiles and (8) pay grades. At the end of the 4-year training program, participants will have the skills and experience needed to be considered for an Electro-Mechanical Technician position with Blue Diamond Growers, dependent on staffing levels. Each title and pay will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the required schoolwork and on the job training evaluations. Reviews will be conducted on a 6-month bases, where time and/or pay may be awarded or extended at management’s discretion. This is an “at-will” program, and participants may be dropped from the program for un-satisfactory grades, poor on the job work performance, or attendance (Work and School). This program is designed to take individuals with entry level knowledge of mechanics/electricity and build them into a well-rounded and highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Technician.
