Food Service Sales Manager, New York City

About the role:
We're looking for a Food Service Sales Manager to lead the growth of a plant-based meat product by expanding sales in the New York Metro area. The ideal candidate is a go-getter with a proactive approach and excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Drive sales by delivering engaging product presentations and tastings to integrate products into customer menus.
- Build and expand partnerships with distributors, restaurants, and caterers.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, collaborating with distributor sales teams.
- Update and manage sales CRM.
- Represent the company at trade shows with live cooking demos and lead generation.
- Ensure customer success through regular check-ins and strategic support.
- Execute sales strategies, manage the sales funnel, and process purchase orders.
- Track sales progress, meet goals, and provide market feedback for product improvements.
Requirements:
- Industry Expertise: 3+ years of sales or business development experience in food service, ideally with innovative or startup food brands.
- Market Knowledge: Understanding of food service dynamics, including distributors, brokers, and restaurants; existing NY-area relationships preferred.
- Sales & People Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities; skilled at building relationships with chefs and stakeholders.
- Self-Starter: Entrepreneurial mindset, hunter mentality, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Culinary Background: Experience in food service or restaurants with a passion for food (culinary skills preferred).
- Team-Oriented: Collaborative team player open to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Tech & Tools: Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
- Mission-Driven: Enthusiasm for plant-based meat alternatives and food sustainability.
- Flexible & Mobile: Willingness to travel regularly in the NY Metro Area and occasionally beyond.
- Additional Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Competitive, commensurate with experience.
